Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1
That should have been the score that night. Instead Barca won 2-1. I was heartbroken. I have never been more heartbroken in my life and it even affected my day and I was moody and was shitty during training. I mean, the red card shouldn't have been, it was a Uefa Final for gods sake. In the last ten minutes as I saw Barca destroy Arsenal, I felt like crying. However, after a days worth thinking about it, I think I'm happy with the result. Arsenal showed their full determination, and heroes emerged from the team, playing their hearts out. It inspires me when I see a ten men down team lead against one of the best teams in the world. Manuel Almunia showed that he could contain Barca, at least till his team mates couldn't take it. Eboue glittered down the right flank, dispossesing Eto'o in the first half and Ronaldinho in the second as easily as he sizzled past them. Ljungberg powered past Oleguer and Marquez, containing his anger despite the clipping of his legs the moment he was clear of them. And of course, Henry, ever so the mercurial captain, played his heart out literally and maintained his composure. He played till he had nothing left in his legs. When Eboue got the yellow, he told him to calm down, and said "Don't worry, its not over yet" Damn right it wasnt. Arsenal fought through and through and throughout this whole season, that was their best performance. What a way to cap an unfortunate season filled with drama and the final performance at highbury. Sincerely, I felt proud being an Arsenal fan, and I hope that I can emulate the same strength that they showed during that final in every aspect of my life.
